离岸人民币是指在中国境外经营人民币的存放款业务。
交易双方均为非居民的业务称为离岸金融业务。离岸市场提供离岸金融业务。
中国人民银行支持在香港建立人民币离岸市场。人民银行也在研究，能不能在上海建立人民币离岸市场。在人民币没有完全可兑换之前，流出境外的人民币有一个交易的市场，这样才能够促进、保证人民币贸易结算的发展。在新加坡资政吴作栋2011年4月访华后，新加坡也正式加入了人民币离岸市场的竞争当中。
